WorkShops are designed to create community around Scripture through theological instruction.
The Mission of Workshops
Words like theology and doctrine can be intimidating. Or maybe they make you yawn with boredom. Or maybe they wake up that part of you that loves to dive into the deeper parts of Scripture and God’s design. The mission of workshops is to create community around Scripture (much like LifeGroups) through theological instruction.
WorkShop Distinctives
LifeGroups at Provision are designed to foster relationships and spiritual growth through three distinctives:
Theology and Community
While theological instruction is the leads the way in WorkShops, community isn’t far behind. Our hope is that learning about God isn’t drudgery. Our hope is that theology is exhilarating and life-giving. Maybe even…fun. God gives us each other to enjoy Him together. It would be a sad thing to learn about God without the joy of community to share that knowledge.
Sunday mornings are evidence of this. We like to think Sunday mornings at Provision provide theological instruction and opportunity to grow in community. The value of WorkShops beyond that is the intimacy of studying with a smaller group week after week. As you study, learn, ask questions, and just spend time together you naturally build friendships.
Building these friendships through solid Biblical teaching carries helps us to be Christ centered in our relationships. WorkShops are joyful, Christ centered discipleship.

The Mission of LifeGroups
At Provision, our mission is to cultivate a Christ centered community driven by the joy of the Gospel to make disciples who make disciples. LifeGroups are the heartbeat of this mission, providing an intimate space where people can move from isolation to belonging, and from strangers to family. Since discipleship happens in relationship, LifeGroups are an essential part of how we make disciples.
LifeGroup Distinctives
LifeGroups at Provision are designed to foster relationships and spiritual growth through three distinctives:
From Stranger to Family
Sadly, it is possible for a person to attend a Sunday morning worship service at a church for years without growing in community with the people of that congregation. We believe the New Testament teaches a fuller version of church community than that. The New Testament picture of the church is one of a family. LifeGroups at Provision do the most to move people from isolation to community. We like to talk about the progression like this: from stranger to neighbor to friend to family. Everyone starts out as strangers, but our hope is that you don’t feel like one for long.
Strangers don’t know anything about you.
Neighbors might know your name and what you’re like, but you’re probably not calling them when you get a flat tire.
Friends have been in your home, they’ve seen you with your shoes off. They’ve seen some of your bad days and they know how to care for you.
Family puts your needs ahead of their own, they love you and make you a part of their life in meaningful ways.
Churches shouldn’t be full of strangers. We should be family. But families can only be so big. There’s no way to know 100 people on the deep level of a family. LifeGroups provide the opportunity to build lasting and Christ centered relationships with the church that look more like family than strangers.

Prayer, at its core, is far more than a customary practice; it is a vital anchor in our spiritual lives, grounding us in our relationship with Jesus Christ. Here’s a deeper look at its role from a Christ-centered perspective:
Prayer’s capacity to bridge generational divides is one of its most beautiful and powerful aspects. Here’s how this unifying force works:
The “ACTS” Model, a structured approach to prayer, provides a comprehensive and deeply meaningful framework for your communication with God. This method not only organizes your prayer life but also ensures a balanced spiritual practice. Let’s explore each component in greater detail:
By deepening your understanding and practice of the “ACTS” model, your prayer life can become more fulfilling and reflective of a comprehensive spiritual relationship with God. It’s a method that not only guides your prayers but can also shape your daily walk with Him.
Expanding on the concept of prayer journaling, this practice can become a transformative tool in your spiritual arsenal. A prayer journal is more than a diary; it’s a tangible record of your dialogue with God. Here’s how you can enrich this practice:
Family prayer time, centered around Christ, is an essential aspect of spiritual and family life, providing leadership and guidance for our families. Here are some strategies to family prayer:
Diving deeper into scriptural prayers, we find a rich tapestry of words that can deeply resonate with our personal and family life. Praying the Scriptures is a powerful way to align our thoughts and desires with God’s will, as expressed in His Word. This practice allows us to:
The concept of inter-generational prayer partners is more than just pairing two individuals from different age groups; it’s about creating a bridge that connects varied experiences and perspectives through the power of prayer. Here’s how to deepen this practice:
Community prayer events are pivotal in bringing together diverse members of the church. They serve as a platform for unity and spiritual rejuvenation. To enhance these events:
By expanding and implementing these practices, you can foster and help create a cohesive and spiritually vibrant community, bridging generational gaps and uniting diverse members in prayer and worship.
Concluding our exploration, we see that prayer transcends being merely a basic religious practice. It stands as a dynamic and powerful tool for spiritual growth and community enrichment, but most importantly – your relationship with Jesus Christ.
In the hustle and bustle of modern life, the importance of community often gets overlooked. This is especially true for college students who are juggling academics, social lives, and personal growth. However, community is not just crucial for the younger generation; it holds value for families and older adults as well. In an inter-generational church that places a strong focus on college ministry, small groups serve as the backbone of community life.
Small groups are not just a college phenomenon; they are a lifeline for people of all ages. For college students, these groups offer a respite from academic pressures and a safe space to explore faith. For families, they provide a setting to discuss parenting challenges and marital issues. For older adults, they offer companionship and emotional support.
Accountability is a two-way street. While younger members benefit from the wisdom and life experiences of older members, the older generation gains fresh perspectives from the youth. This mutual accountability fosters spiritual growth and ethical living.
The Bible is replete with examples of community living. The early Christians in the book of Acts set a precedent by meeting regularly for worship and sharing resources. This model is not just applicable to a specific age group; it serves as a blueprint for inter-generational community as well.
The essence of small groups lies in Christ-centered relationships. Whether it’s a group of college friends studying the Bible together or a family praying for each other’s needs, the focus remains on spiritual growth and drawing closer to Christ.
Small groups offer a plethora of opportunities for skill development. For college students, this could mean honing leadership or public speaking skills. For parents, it could involve learning effective communication strategies for raising children. Older adults might find value in mentoring younger members, thereby enhancing their coaching skills.
The networking benefits of small groups extend across all age groups. College students may find internship opportunities through other members, parents might discover useful resources for child-rearing, and older adults can share valuable life lessons.
Churches often offer a variety of small groups catering to different age groups and interests. It’s essential to find a group that aligns with your spiritual and social needs. Don’t hesitate to visit multiple groups to find the right fit.
Regular attendance is crucial for reaping the benefits of a small group. It’s not just about showing up; it’s about actively participating, contributing to discussions, and being a reliable member.
Leadership is not confined to a particular age group. Whether you’re a college student passionate about social justice or a parent interested in organizing family-friendly events, taking the initiative to lead adds value to the group and enriches your own experience.
In an inter-generational church with a strong focus on college ministry, small groups serve as a vital component for spiritual and personal development. They offer a unique blend of support, accountability, and practical benefits that cater to all age groups. By actively participating in a small group, you’re not just enriching your own life; you’re contributing to the well-being of your entire community.
